What the Sandbagger Report Does
The Handicap Audit Report lives inside the Manage Tournament panel and gives organizers a clear, data-driven look at every player's handicap integrity. It ranks your entire field by Sandbagger Index — a score that measures how often each player beats their expected performance in team-ball formats like scrambles and match play.
Every player gets a label:
- Sandbagger — Consistently performs better than their handicap would suggest
- Vanity 'Capper — The opposite: their handicap flatters them
- Plays to Handicap — Exactly what you'd expect
Each label comes with a confidence level (High, Medium, Low) based on how many rounds of data are available. More data, more certainty.
What It Looks At
The report analyzes team-ball rounds — scrambles, match play, stroke play with a partner — and compares actual scores against expected scores based on both partners' handicaps. It surfaces:
- Sandbagger Index: Average strokes per round better or worse than expected
- Percentage of rounds below expected: How often the player beats the number
- Home/Away differential gap: Whether someone shoots significantly better at their home course
- GHIN rounds in the last 12 months: Active players have more reliable data
- Handicap source: GHIN-linked, manual, or unverified
Summary Dashboard
At the top of the report, organizers get a quick snapshot: total players, how many flagged as sandbaggers, how many vanity 'cappers, how many play to their handicap, and the average Sandbagger Index for the whole field. You know the vibe of your tournament in one glance.
Your Profile Has One Too
The Sandbagger Index also shows up on your profile dashboard — alongside your HCP Index, Scoring, Differential, Frequency, and Home/Away stats. Everyone can see their own number. No hiding.
